I've no knowledge of the CRV but I agree that it sounds a lot to me as well.

However...

I think that manufacturers give themselves a really wide allowance for oil consumption and I think that 500 miles per pint isn't excessive according to their low standards.

As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.

It is a lot !
Over the years I`ve had some bangers but even they never had oil consumption as bad as that.

I'm going back a few years now to when I was involved in supplying Unipart Gold Seal engines. The oil consumption had to be GREATER than 500 miles per pint in order for them to accept that there might be a problem.

I never said that I thought it was reasonable!

if you check on the parkers site it does say that the diesels are prone to burn a bit of oil, they should settle when the engine has a few miles on it

I have an 06 CRV and when I bought it I was horrified when I read the handbook. It said something lik a litre of oil per 1000 miles. However I added about a pint up to the 12k service, after that It was 7k miles before the level went down to the full mark. A case of the dealer overfilling. I would say that I am still adding about a pint between services. My last car was a Passat 1.9 TDi which didn't use any oil until past 150k.

Hi all,

I also have an 06 plate CRV cdti. I never seem to have to top it. Have done 33000 miles in it now. I just leave it to the guys at the garage when they give it a yearly sevice & change the oil.

I look at the dipstick every month & it always seems to be at the same level. Doing approx 600 miles a month town & dual carrage way.

Hope that helps.
