Hi,
My car is a 307 1.6 HDI 110, it has started blowing cam cover gaskets if you remove the cover that says 1.6 HDI to show the injectors there is oil around the injectors these are not leaking though. There is quite a hiss hiss noise sometimes, i have changed the gasket three times now, is there some sort of pressure relief valve somewhere ? It would not bother me but the fumes get inside the car which is not good.

Regards

How do you know the injectors are not leaking? TBH if there's a "hiss, hiss" noise these would be my first thought.

At first the guy who had a look said it must be the injectors, i carry leak detection spray as part of my job so i coated everything with the foam and the leak was coming from the cam cover gasket, i changed this, it lasted a few weeks then started to leak again. The cam cover has metal tubes in the bolt holes so the gasket does not get too squashed.

I have searched many forums and have seen a couple of similar problems but there was no answers unfortunately.

I wish I could find some pictures of the engine as I would like to know whether the injectors are recessed into the cam cover or something like that. As it is, without the engine in front of me I'm reduced to almost guessing!

Could you make some kind of stethoscope so that you could pinpoint the hiss, hiss noise? Is it possible that the injectors are pressurising the cam cover?

Sorry I'm being a bit useless here!

Unfortunately there's no facility to have pictures hosted on the forum itself.

It would be better if you could put the photos on one of the photo hosting sites that are available and then link to them from your post. If you put [ img ][ /img ] (but with the spaces taken out) around the link it should then show the photo(s) in the post itself.

This will give someone else a chance to comment (if there is anyone!), failing that you can email them to me.
